As you contemplate the emotional essence of each of the outcomes that you associate with your wildest vision of career success, your work is to conjure with as much color and intensity as possible the sensation of this outcome having already been achieved. Imagine this future fulfillment in all its glorious detail. Seat yourself in your new office; position yourself at the podium on your book tour; feel the sensation of freedom and accomplishment as you appreciate the number of zeros on your bank statement. In your mind and in your gut, play with the feeling of having fulfilled every one of your career goals until this vibration is deeply familiar to you. Turn to the thought as frequently as you punch the preset button of your favorite radio station when you get into your car. And visit this channel often until it becomes the most popular one on your dial.
The ultimate test of your newfound ability to choose your own channel—and in so doing, regain control over your own mood—will arise when you are met with frequencies that clash with your own. We live in a world of incredible variety, and among millions of other people who are making drastically different choices about how they direct their thoughts and where they invest their energies. The more attuned you become to your own emotional guidance system, the more sensitive you will be when you encounter a particular person or situation that introduces static to your chosen frequency. And sometimes, the static we encounter is our own.
For as much experience as I have had in creating success, I still have moments when something will trigger old feelings of lack or limitation—and when that happens, my business reflects it, because, as it does with everyone, the universe is always responding to me and delivering either more of what I want or more of what I don’t want, based on the energy that I give out. The way we interact with the energy of a desire that has not yet manifested determines whether we will allow it or disallow it to manifest into our lives. When we are focused on its absence, it remains in the unseen world and out of our reach. But by focusing on the presence of what is wanted—by imagining it, by looking for evidence of it, and by appreciating all the ways in which we already have it—we attract to ourselves more of the same.
